Obtaining life insurance with asthma can be tricky unless you choose the right company.  By knowing the factors that affect life insurance rates, you can shop with confidence and know what to expect.  You can use the instant quote engine on this site to shop for the best rates.  Also, keep in mind underwriting will also look at build, other health conditions and lifestyle.  If you fall into a lower rating category than you anticipate, that is OK, you can still get a policy and ask the life insurance company to re-evaluate your rate once your health has improved.  Also, if you are not sure which rating category you fall into, just get in contact with me by using the contact tab.

The rate that you will receive on your life insurance with asthma depends a lot on what degree of asthma you have, always be open about your condition with your insurance agent. Having more information about your condition will lead to having a more accurate life insurance quote, as well as being place with the right insurance carrier.

Great advice Arielle. Many of my clients have asthma and we got them excellent rates, often the Preferred Plus or Preferred rating class. The “Possible range of underwriting decisions” section in this post is a great barometer on the rating. But yes, always be open about about all medical conditions so the agent can get you the best rate upfront!
