Out of the estimated 2,000 life insurance companies in the United States, almost all of them will increase your premiums if you are taking high blood pressure medication.  There are however a few companies that will not do this and here we will give you the insider information.

  1. Banner Life– Underwriting guidelines for blood pressure:  in order to qualify for the best rating class-Preferred Plus with Banner, your blood pressure must be well controlled with or without treatment (medication), with the average readings in the past two years not greater than 136/86 (non-tobacco).
  2. Protective Life-Underwriting Guidelines for blood pressure: best rating class-Select Preferred possible if average from current medical exam and history readings within the last year do not exceed 135/85 through age 60 or 140/85 for ages 61-70 (non-tobacco).  Treated blood pressure must have been controlled for one year with favorable doctor’s records readings throughout the year.
  3. United of Omaha– Underwriting Guidelines for blood pressure: best rating class- Preferred Best possible- if treated (medication) or untreated.  Average readings do not exceed for ages 18-55: 135/85 ages 56+: 140/85 (non-tobacco).

    My father has high blood pressure which is why this info is a blessing, so thanks a lot. I have heard Genworth is really good, so I might opt for it. I might even look into the other two as you have recommended them.
